The Cameroon Health and Education Fund (CHEF) is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN number 203407099) that was founded in 2005 as the “Flagstaff International Health and Education Fund “ and transitioned to the current title in 2010.  With this transition, CHEF elected a new president, expanded the number of officers, and expanded the Board to 12 members who represent multiple disciplines (doctors, nurses, lawyers, and other professionals, including some who are Cameroonian Americans) from multiple states across the US.  All officers and board members are volunteers and there is no paid staff, thus eliminating administrative costs for CHEF activities in the US and assuring that all donated money or goods go directly to providing services in Cameroon or other designated resource-poor African countries.  From its inception in 2005 through the end of 2013, the Flagstaff Fund/CHEF raised over $460,000 to support meritorious health and education initiatives in Cameroon and has reported back to donors  how their money was used.  CHEF’s goal is to continue and expand support for critical health and education initiatives and maintain the highest quality of accountability and transparency.
